Marine Barracks Washington D.C.
The Marine Corps Barracks in Washington D.C. is the oldest post of the corps, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. The site of the post was established in 1801, strategically located "within easy marching distance of the Capitol".

Today, The U.S. Marine Barracks, Washington D.C. is home to more than 1,100 Marines, Sailors and civilians. Marines stationed here are responsible for a wide array of duties, from participating in ceremonies and light infantry training to presidential support duty. Tours of the Barracks are available on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. or by appointment. To schedule a tour please contact call (202) 433-4173. Be sure to attend the "Evening Parade" and "Sunset Parade", two renowned ceremonies conducted by the Marines.

Evening Parade General Information

The Evening Parade is held every Friday evening during the summer, and begins with a concert by the United States Marine Band. Those with reservations are admitted beginning at 7:15 p.m. and should arrive no later than 8:00 p.m. At approximately 8:15 p.m., guests without reservations waiting outside the main gate of the Barracks are offered unclaimed seats.

Sunset Parade General Information

The Washington D.C. Sunset Parade takes place during the summer months at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, Virginia near Arlington National Cemetery, about six miles from our Washington D.C. boutique hotel. The performance is about one hour and features the United States Marine Band, The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.
